March 15, 2000:
Thank you so much mommy, for I have this diary now. As soon as I saw this diary in the stationary shop, I wanted this for myself. It was expensive and I’m just in class 5- so I was afraid that mom won’t let me buy it. After asking her for several times, she finally bought it for me as my birthday gift in advance. I love my diary and it is golden in color. Once when my grandmother told me the story of the girl with golden hair, I asked her if I had similar hair too. She replied no, and told me that I had a golden smile; at the moment, I thought it was funny even though I did not understand what she meant. But now, I can say that I really have something golden, and it is my diary.
I’m going to keep it with me all the time, I will take it to school in my school bag and not write in front of anybody else- it is my secret and I don’t want to share it with anyone. Nobody checks my schoolbag, so it will be safe; I’m not going to show this to my friends Salina, Arina, or even Rashmi. I will not give any Hajmola to Rashmi and ask her to talk to me again because I have my friend now. I hope Susan (my brother) will not try to find it in my room. Hi diary, thank you for being my friend, and welcome to my world!

:)

ReplyDeleteYour Golden Diary :-)
ReplyDeleteRevisiting this must have felt using a time machine to revisit past memories from a decade ago :) I sometimes wish I had mementos like your diary to cherish the time when life was a lot less complicated!
ReplyDeleteYou have a golden pen too, I think.
ReplyDelete@Himanshu: It sure was a travel down the memory lane :)
